“I have had 1 child graduate from Francine Delany and one child starting. The education and care the teachers show each child and the daily individual instruction each child receives is exceptional. The sense of community between the teachers, students and parents creates an ideal learning environment for all types of children. The small class sizes and the teacher's ability to teach 'outside of the box' makes learning fun.”

“While many schools promote the slogan 'No Child Left Behind' many children in the public system truly do get left behind for many different and varying reasons. Francine Delany (although a public school) works diligently to make sure this does not happen. The classrooms are small and the teachers have assistants. The older children help the younger children and the school, as a whole, has a 'this is my extended family' feel. Students learn to volunteer and giveback to the neighboring community and parents support the teachers by volunteering their time. Every teacher is highly certified and dedicated to the needs of their students. Children with disabilities are supported, strengthen and given every tool needed to succeed. They are not hidden away or removed from classrooms, they are part of the school community; and, because of this other children (who do not have disabilities) learn patience, kindness and tolerance. There is no better school than Francine Delany New School for Children.”

“The kids just put on a performance today that tugged at our heart strings and reinforced the reason that we chose to apply for Charter schools! The focus on community and supporting all students no matter what their abilities, needs and gifts, helps to reaffirm that there is hope for a brighter tomorrow. “F Delany has great parent teacher involvement and good class size. The school is run by the teachers, not detached administrators, which is a refreshing change in the NC school system. My son is really excited about reading and we do verbal addition quizzes all the time. As a family we are really excited and pleased with F. Delany New School.”

“F Delany is a wonderful school. Great student teacher ratio, inivative teaching methods, and all of the children know each other throughout all of the grade levels. These children are privilaged to have such caring and inspirational teachers and administrators. I've never seen a learning atmosphere like this. I feel so blessed that my children have access to this environment. I hope that the school will expand to include grades 9-12. Niconda Briscoe”

“I love that my seven year old son comes home every day saying that 'school was great!' The teachers are excellent: enthusiastic, committed to ongoing professional development, and take a sincere interest in every single child. The school is small, and makes sacrifices to keep class size small, while not compromising whatsoever on quality. They produce students who go on to be leaders in highschool and have a reputation for being more mature students than average in their high school grade. They take personal interest in the safety and health of their students: feeding those who came hungry and making sure a teacher is on the school bus with the kids every morning and afternoon! They manage to create a wonderful educational experience for our children on a shoestring budget, and have fun doing is (though it has to be tiring!) Thank you.”

“Delany is a teacher run school for a good reason. Nowhere in NC will you find a school with a more qualified teaching staff. Over 2/3 of the teachers have adanced degrees and over 1/3 have National Board Certification. Teachers are life long learners and are committed to assuring all children are active participants in a learning community. Delany's test scores have always been good, yet teachers don't teach to the test. The instructional focus is creating readers, writers, thinkers and problem solvers. Good test scores are the result of strong teachers using their professional knowledge to provide optimal learning experiences for each child. Don't judge a book by its cover. The campus is modular classrooms. Take the time to look inside each building. Observe children reading real books, publishing writing, engaged and challenged through problem centered math, researching topics of interest and creating projects invovling social action. You'll be impressed!”
