I'm currently a manager at a blockbuster, who I've only stuck with because they encourage their employees to give their honest opinion about things. Any job that lets me tell someone that a movie was complete crap works for me! As for the rest of my time, well, I find ways to fill it. I'd like to do more outdoors. Who knows? One: I'm bi. But I mean real bi. Not the kind of bi where I make out with girls at parties and then go back to my boyfriend. Although I don't object to that as a filler if I can't find something more satisfying.

Two: Dancing is pretty important in my life. Social dancing, I mean. Contra, lindy hop, salsa and latin, Argentine tango, blues, and most anything else you throw at me. I've learned to temper myself lately, so if you don't currently dance, that's fine, though I still think you ought to try it. Just know that at least one night a week I will be somewhere with some very sweaty people shaking any number of groove things.

Three: Everything about me is eclectic. And irreverent. I'm several parts humanities dork, a couple parts geeky science gamer girl (OMG! PWNIES!!!/If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate), in love with the wild but too soft to live in it, fit but still squishy where I need to be (and some places I don't, but I like it), quick-witted when comfortable.

I do a lot of meticulous and intellectual design work, consulting and writing. This is really introspective stuff and kind of exhausting really so I try to balance this with things outside which seems to be raising food, nailing boards, clearing brush, gathering firewood. It seems at some point, merely through perseverance, I became respected as an internationally known expert in my obscure and tiny field. This is entertaining since I seldom leave my house, but the internet makes this weird lifestyle possible. It's not that I'm a housebound recluse, but I've travelled through most the world and am just trying to get stuff done right now. OK I suppose I am a recluse, but I still travel as necessary. I never make reservations or detailed travel plans but rather go with the flow, try to pay cash only, and frequently give an assumed name, for no real reason.

The many facets of the diamond reflect light from every direction. I integrate the sacred and the profane, have a passion for service and believe, not only that we CAN change the world; but that we must. And soon! I enjoy having two adult children. They are fun to talk to, very smart and sweet and loving; everything I could ever hope for. I am a loyal friend and I am just learning how much love surrounds me and how blessed I am.

I love to dance, and can really cut a rug, my favorites are Zydeco and Waltz, but I am a great swing dancer too. With a strong leader I can do most dances like Lindy, and Salsa and Argentinian Tango. I was one of the first hippie kids, born in San Francisco and brought home to Haight Asbury. There are some good stories. I give really good advice and pep talks. I keep secrets well, except my own, I'm an open book. I have no energy for deception.

I've got a thousand schemes, plans, plots, ideas and dreams. I'm ready for the revolution--of consciousness and conscience. I'm always working to improve, but also working to accept where I am. I'm a perpetual student, crave travel. More country girl than not. Lived farm life, city life, small city life. I love my home, but I'm open to living in other places down the road.

While I am in essence an extravert, my years of meditation have brought the balance of introversion more into my personality. I would love to have a partner to journey into the next half of my life, but I enjoy the ease of single life. I enjoy shorter term relationships, too, as long as communication is clear and I know what to expect. Even in short term relationships I need affection, attention, intelligent conversation and genuine caring. The person that could inspire me to give up some of the freedom of single life for a serious relationship will be someone very independent himself. But he will also be someone who loves to collaborate on projects and plans, someone who is not afraid to show affection and emotion, someone who is intelligent, open-minded and fun. A positive outlook is essential. I will not tolerate possessiveness, name-calling or anything less than kindness in a mate. I love the outdoors, camping hiking and skinny-dipping in a cold mountain stream. I love to watch the moon rise, stars set, and all the usual beauties of nature. You should also keep in mind that nothing I say on here is true, nothing I say is false either. I live by one rule: that there are exceptions to every rule, even that one (because as I'm saying it I realize there are plenty of other rules I live by, but they're fun ones like: "variety is the spice of life" and "waste not want not", I'm into adages, obviously.) Other than that, given situations, moods, and all the other thousands of variables I take in every moment I'm am liable to handle things as I have before or in a completely different manner. I try to take things as they come, there is a certain amount of planning involved, but scenarios change and I adapt...

I am an altruistic, empathic, catalyst. I like the word multifaceted in relation to myself. I am an amalgamation of characters. I am more and less dorky than I appear. I'm pretty friendly and easy to get along with as long as people aren't super aggressive. I don't like power struggles (ie: politics, rigged or unfair competition), I just don't play. I like to think I appreciate things for what they are. I don't take myself, or this life, too seriously but sometimes I do. I'm like a chameleon but without the label. I reject labeling myself. I'm a retro conundrum resurrecting vintage tendencies amongst an uncaring populous. I misuse words, sometimes on purpose. I'm almost always willing to be wrong, doesn't mean that I am always wrong, but keeping that open allows for gads of learning. There are as many ways to do something as there are people in the 'verse. Some of those ways will work, some of those ways won't work, fine tuning, listening, watching, it's all essential to living.

I can usually see myself going at an accelerated pace compared to most people when it comes to logical thinking, rational thought, and other things. But I move as slow as the growth of a tree when it comes to getting my fill of places and people... It seems like most people like to glance at their world around them and make a general decision as to whether or not they like it and move on. I like to savor the flavor, you know.

Also, I'm probably much more interesting when I'm not desperately (because I frequently struggle over what to say) trying to put myself into words.

I just got out of a long relationship to come to the realization that I really love being alone. I was hardly ever alone for the last two and half years and I'm regaining the feelings of peace and stillness I used to have. I want people in my life with whom I can share that feeling. Not being alone together, but understanding the importance of aloneness and trying to share that feeling with another... Yeah, I dunno if that came out right. Being so multifaceted (I am indeed very varied) unless I found someone who was into as much of *everything* as I am, but not necessarily the same exact things, that could get boring, I don't think I could continuously be with just one person forever. Because of this feeling I consider myself polyamorous. I'm not *so* much interested in meeting couples. I'd much rather perfer to start my own group. I was born and raised in a small farm town in Ohio, I moved to North Carolina in 2004. Dating again was not part of the grand plan. I hadnâ??t planned for such a devastating change in my life, but things have a way of taking us out of our comfort zone. I spent the better part of six years digging---sweat, general dirtiness, chiggers, fighting briars, etc. On the other hand, cool Native American and early American sites, a sense of being an explorer, and getting to be in woods (sometimes), if not overgrown, hell vegetation. I have lived in different places, ranging from Boston to Charleston, SC. I am sure there is more to say, but that's what came out.

I think guileless can describe me well. I dont lie and I think logically. (Even though I love nonsensical jokes.) When I actually do something it won't be half assed even though it takes longer to do things the correct way. And when everyone wants things done yesterday it can get me into trouble. Im agnostic and can be a bleeding heart. My beliefs are strong but all things are possible, so, I keep an open mind and try to get information from every source. I have traveled a bit and it was always fun in the end. My next trip is probably to los angeles again. Then southern texas. Im individualistic but not because Im hip or cool. I just like what I like and Im not trying to impress anyone with my uniqueness. Be it that I like; world music, collecting odd souvenirs, or off the wall humor. I was born and raised in Knoxville and now work in Asheville, NC for the time being before going back to UT for my MBA. Words that can describe me is that I am a simple, but layered person. Every once in a while I'll get crazy and have some fun. I am decent at beer games, and can be hilariously random.

I like trying out new restaurants and different foods. My family has always been in the restaurant business. So, I like food and cooking 3-4 times a week. Things you'd never know just from looking at me: I was homeschooled and raised on a farm--the hippie kind. I am a straight A student. I love to cook. I moved from New Orleans to Asheville about 10 years ago. It's been a really nice change, Asheville is a great city. I've experienced many layers of our society, from homelessness to debutante central, and I've learned a lot from my travels. I am fascinated by the ways that culture affects humans.

I'm a lapsed Unitarian. I enjoy rug hooking and making pine needle baskets. I guess I'm a crafty type person. I enjoy small get togethers with friends, the occaisonal night out shooting pool or seeing music, movies with friends.

I'm Devon Alanna. I was born in NY but grew up in Lake Lure NC, and moved to Asheville to go to UNCA in 2007. I'm a college student at UNC Asheville. I'm a feminist, vegetarian, and a human rights activist. I'm interested in many things, mostly arts related. I managed to find the best job in the world, â??what job is that?â?? you ask; teaching 9th grade science. I know crazy huh? Even crazier, I like when they talk back-hence high school. I know, wow. What I enjoy the most about the kids is that ever day is different, the dynamics, the energy, the frustration, the joy, every day is new. Children have such a sense of wonder and wow! I am not required to sit still for an extended period of time (a sedentary lifestyle is not for me). I love that my classroom subject can be taught outside.

I love reading, watching movies and listening to music. i find the strangest things to be aesthetically pleasing, and i'll usually take a photograph of it. when shown to someone else, the response is typically, "um...why did you take a picture of a hole in that plank of wood?!"

i'm impulsive as hell and pretty extroverted. the combination of the two characteristics usually end in strange encounters with strangers. my first impression in person will probably make you laugh your ass off. if i'm drinking, i'll usually squint one eye, try to focus on your appearance and proceed to come up with a "witty" pick up line. most everyone likes me, although i've had one encounter back at a memorial day party in toledo, oh. i mentioned this guy's hair and how it looked very "the cure". i guess he didn't like the cure..or maybe he was having a bad night. but nonetheless, he instantly didn't like me. when that happens...most of the time, i'll just try to annoy the piss off of the person until they either walk away or beat me up. =)

i just really love meeting people. strangers = one of my favorite things. i can talk your ear off, but something i've heard a lot in my 23 short ones is that i actually LISTEN. when i'm told this, i never cease to be amazed at it. of course everyone listens, but no one listens like me, i guess. i'm just typically and genuinely interested in what you have to say, so we can go so far as to say i like learning.

i'm politically opinionated. don't even try to talk to me if you're a republican. i'll just either piss you off or make you want to kill something.

oh, and i'm a vegan, and if you aren't cool with that, you can suck it.
